Willamette National Forest in Oakridge Oregon offer numerous opportunities for dispersed camping, hiking, and mountain biking.

We camped just 6 miles  east of Oakridge off Forest Road 24 by Salmon Creek. We had a huge flat area, access to the creek and there was even a fire ring.

Directions: From the corner of Crestview Street and Oregon State Highway 58 (at the only traffic light along Highway 58 in Oakridge), travel north on Crestview Street over the railroad tracks for 0.2 miles.  Bear right at the four-way intersection onto East 1st Street, through the center of Oakridge.  Follow East 1st Street for approximately 1.1 miles out of town to the junction of Fish Hatchery Road (on your right).  Here, East 1st becomes Forest Road 24, otherwise known as the Salmon Creek Road.  Stay straight on Salmon Creek Road, and travel approximately 4.2 miles and the destination will be on your right the next road past the Salmon Creek Falls Campground.

If you get a map you will see the small road on it just past Salmon Creek Campground. This is narrow dirt road with low overhanging trees. A van or truck can get back there but an RV won’t really fit.
